Video Servers

Video Servers or IP transmission systems allow the transfer of data from a camera to the operator via a non-continuous connection. The term IP (Internet Protocol) means that data is sent in digital packets at a time along the transmission media. This means that you don’t need a continuous live connection to transmit data as you do with say, an ISDN line (with ISDN you need a live connection set up at both ends of the transmission in order to relay data). IP transmission means that data can be relayed at any time as and when required and the line doesn’t have to stay open or live continuously.
