Switchers

Switchers allow an operator to view a specific camera’s image when more than one is available. Video switchers are usually used for up to 16 cameras, while systems with more cameras tend to use matrix switchers (set up with their cabling in a form of a matrix, linking up lots of cameras to more than one keyboard). With a matrix system more than one operator can thus view pictures from the same cameras. Remote switchers work by remote transmission if it is impossible for all the camera to be linked by cable. The number of cameras, monitors and alarms are the driving force to selecting the type of switcher.
