Multiplexers

A device used when more than one video signal needs to be processed, or where more than one operation (e.g. recording, viewing, transmitting) has to be performed simultaneously. Multiplexers operate in simplex (1 mode e.g. playback), duplex (2 modes e.g. playback and recording), triplex (3 modes e.g. playback, recording and transmission). Depending on the model, they can control up to several hundred signals; some can also control telemetry equipment and allow interfacing with a computer via RS-232.
