DomesDomes are CCTV cameras that are "domed" in appearance. Internally, they usually pan, tilt, zoom and rotate. The degree to which they perform these functions generates their classification (i.e. Fixed Focus, Variable Focus or Continuous Rotation - 360 movement). Like cameras, images are captured by the chip or sensor (different sizes allow different levels of light and work with different lenses) and can be either High (>420 TVL) or Medium Resolution (420 TVL or less) and the picture can be colour, monochrome or both (possibly switchable). Images may be digitised (DSP) and transmitted directly though networks or internet (Network or IP type). Mounting configuration (ceiling, in-ceiling, wall, ceiling etc) and location (indoor or outdoor) is important because domes may be constructed differently.
